LANSING—Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey, R-Clarklake, today announced Nikki Brown as the new senate majority policy director, beginning January of 2021.
“I am thrilled that Nikki has accepted our request to take the helm at the senate majority policy office. Nikki was the clear and obvious choice for the position. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience. She is bright, strategic, hardworking and a joy to work with,” said Shirkey.
Brown is currently deputy policy director for the senate majority. She previously served as deputy budget director and a policy advisor in the office. Brown came to the Michigan Senate from the Michigan Municipal League in 2016. She is a graduate of Grand Valley State University.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Brown is active in her community of Portland where she resides with her husband, Brian, and their three boys.
Brown takes over for Dan Dundas who will leave the Michigan Senate at the end of the year for a position with the Michigan Electric and Gas Association.
