Shirkey reminds residents about flag etiquette for Fourth of July

LANSING, Mich. — With Independence Day right around the corner, Sen. Mike Shirkey on Friday reminded residents of the proper way to display the American flag.

“I encourage people to fly the U.S. flag in front of their home or business this Fourth of July in celebration of our nation and in gratitude for our freedoms,” said Shirkey, R-Clarklake.

“We should always fly the flag in a respectful fashion. This includes never allowing the flag to touch the ground or floor, ensuring the flag flies free, flying the flag at the correct times, and other guidelines.”
